The Best Way of Sightseeing in Nagatoro: “River Boating”
A fun activity that allows visitors to sightsee the Nagatoro area is the “Nagatoro River Boating”.
In this water activity, Japanese-style ships float about 3 km down the Arakawa River that flows through the Nagatoro valley.
While excitingly gliding down the Arakawa River, guests will be able to see the dynamic nature around them.
Not only is this activity fun, it is said that Iwadatami, Nagatoro’s naturally made work of art, is breathtakingly beautiful. There are many boatmen, from young to veteran, whose skillful judgement of navigating the Nagatoro river boats, adds another layer of fun to the experience.
Sometimes the river flows fast in the rocky areas and guests might get sprayed with water, while other times the river flows slowly and the magnificence of nature can be seen.
Visitors are able to board the boats without changing clothes. Since the boatman steers the boat, please enjoy the elegance of the moment.
Course A begins at Iwadatami in the upper stream and is 3 km long, Course B begins downstream for another 3 km, making the whole course 6 km in total.
